GSXR front end conversion guides?
As title.. does anyone kow of any good online info for GSXR front end conversions for the SV?
Or have experience of doing it and know of compatibilites and what to look out for? Thinking of a possible project, possibly with a naked pointy 2007 onwards. All just ideas at the moment though. Be good to get a realistic idea of what's involved and what to budget.

It depends which SV you are converting but the K4/K5 GSXR600 front end goes straight into a pointy as I've done it. Have a search on here, been a few years but if I remember correctly some dedicated member put together a complete flow chart showing what wheel goes with which forks and brakes onto which frame......

There is literally a complete guide on how to do this right here in this forum. 2 of them actually. 11+ 600/750 is plug and play minus steering lock. 04/05 600 750 is 100% STRAIGHT SWAP.. Most complete front ends will go right on. Once you start mixing parts it gets complicated so consult the fork swap guides.

svrider.com covers gsxr front end swaps ad nauseum, I would look there. It seems like every new rider who finds an old SV here in the States thinks they can't ride it until they put gsxr parts on the front so the forum postings are everywhere.

I installed a K7 GSXR750 front end on my K5 SV. From memory it went straight in (bearing swap perhaps, though I probably would have swapped them anyhow, so I don't actually recall if it was necessary). I believe I used a K5 GSXR 1000 top yoke.
There's bunch of old posts by me on here if it's any help/relevant, though I'm not sure I put all the info in any one spot. Re the top yoke: "I managed to get the SV lock to fit the K5 1000 top yoke (and clear the headstock) by filing the holes in the lock backwards and also I think splayed slightly outwards (they were slightly closer together I think than the GSXR mount). That gave me enough space to clear the headstock and the steering lock worked (with steering dead ahead). "

I did an SRAD front end so can't really help you, but it was a 3 hour job. Sourcing the parts was the biggest pain in the ****.
If you go K5 you can just buy a complete k5 end or bits all from the same bike. You might want a word with your insurer/time it to be done at renewal time so they haven't got you over a barrel.
