Potential charging issue?
So i'm going away with the OH on the 29th on the bikes. His 08 SV has starting being a little.. strange i think is the right word.
He's not really being using it, but still done over 200 miles in the last 2 months, so it's done a few trips. The bike always used to start first time no issue, now it seems to be struggling, it takes a few seconds and the lights cut out. The heated grips don't warm up, and the front side lights and dash are flickering. The battery with the bike on but not started was about 12, idling it didn't go up by much, and at 5k revs it was 13.9-14v;s Any suggestions as he's panicking. Thank you |

Re: Potential charging issue?
More than likely it'll need a good charging cycle. My recommendation would be to take it on a long ride and get the battery used to be used again.
My bike was doing this after being ridden very little over a period of time |

Re: Potential charging issue?
it had a 90mile outing yesterday which was when he noticed it, so i'd have thought that would have been enough to get it back up and charged, but i'll try taking it out tomorrow after work and see what i can get it to do.

Re: Potential charging issue?
i'd give it another run out, of a similar or longer time. batteries like to be fully used. if they keep doing short cycles, and being in storage they start to die off and not use the available capacity.

Re: Potential charging issue?
Yeah, i have told him this but he prefers my cbr to his sv, and i can't stand his sv so it ends neglected. I'll take it out tomorrow and see how it goes.
If it dies on me and i end up stranded i'll blame you! |
