Default Holts Motorcycle Degreaser and Chains

Is it safe to use this stuff on the main drive chain?

Says it is on the tin but I am a bit paranoid about this.

Cheers

Don't really know but if in doubt... Following other advice from this site, got myself some paraffin (kerosene in the US apparently) from Homebase. It's called Parasene Super Warm Fuel and is about £5 for 4l. All you need is a tray-thing to put some in, a toothbrush and kitchen roll. Works a treat I tell thee

Is it just me?
I wouldn't use solvents on a drive chain at all as they will remove the grease contained in the rollers.
I just lube the chain with old engine oil,and that effectively cleans grit and **** off as you go along.

Yeah, well funnily enough I have just changed the oil so plenty of it around!

I have got the wheels off the bike at the moment as new tyres are getting fitted so I wanted to give the chain a real good clean as it is pretty dirty.

Pariffin or Engine Oil is probably the way.

Cheers for your Input.

I cleaned my chain with parafin a couple of days after I got my k1 and it made a tidy mess(as we say in Wales). Then I lubed it with engine oil. A week later it was gummy and clicky so I got some castrol chain degreaser and chain wax. Had a run so the chain got warm and used the degreaser followed by the wax. Chain degreased so clean, shifting all the gunk that the parafin missed - and the wax went on so good. I've used the chain wax a couple of times since. Chain still looks clean. I never ride unless the weather is fine though..
