I was riding down a narrow county lane on Sunday (thanks TomTom) and came across a horse and rider. I was going quite slow anyhow but dropped to a crawl. The rider was trying to encourage the horse to move over but it just stopped frozen in the middle of the road. The rider asked me to stop still and she'd come past but the horse wasn't having that, so I pulled over switched off the engine and got off. I walked over to the horse held out my ungloved hand for her (the horse was called Rosie) to sniff. The horse seemed happy at that and then walked forward to sniff the bike. Both rider and horse then went on their way with a big thank you. Not the most exciting story but it made me smile.

That's brilliant, and building good relations between two groups which sometimes have a poor view of each other too!

Exactly. I came across a lot of cyclist as well. Same approach, slow down go past as wide as possible and gave them a wave.

I do the same in the shop where i work, i go out and buy a packet of biscuits or doughnuts as a treat to share. It's only pennies but it creates a pleasant place to work.

Is there such a thing as too much fruit. I guess it can do odd things to your internal plumbing.

normally but i'm T2 diabetic so i'm supposed to stick to my "5 a day" and no more.

i just found it funny that a Scotsman could eat more than the recommended daily intake of fruit and veg.
