Yes to that, I just bought a new tank for my blue '00. The old one still has good POR-15 in it (there because it rusted through and started leaking four years ago) but I bashed it in good in a (stupid) high side crash, and I don't want to die with any money, and I'm old and too lazy to fix it, so, new it was.

this might sound daft but i seem to remember that powder coat is fuel proof. i'll talk to one of the mates to find out as thats his main line of business. if it is then having the inside of the tank coated would be a bloody cheep way of doing it.

POR15 is good, did the curvy and it stopped the rot

It would, unless there might be a problem with existing rust. Can you remove all the rust in the tank? (Probably not.) Will the powder coating adhere properly if all the rust isn't removed? I'd be interested in hearing what your mate has to say.
