Default ER6F Water around petrol filler cap

My wife has a 2011 ER6F and for some reason water seems to be gathering around the underside of the fuel filler cap around the neck of the tank. The cap isn't sealed around the tank and is held in place with three hex bolts and three fake ones. I cannot see if there is a drain that is blocked. Any ideas?

Remove the filler cap, there will be a drain - and it will be blocked.
All tanks with recessed caps have a drain - not always clearly visible though.

Got the cap off to take a look. Can you spot the drain hole?

Bit of scraping and cleaning:

Yes - but I knew where it was before you posted a picture It's always toward the left front 'cos that's where it leans to on the side stand. Blockages are very common unfortunately.

My wife was wondering why the whole thing isn't sealed. But I guess it needs to breath.

It's not a breather, it's a drain hole. The cap is recessed into the tank thus rainwater collects in the well around the cap, if there were no drain any water in the well would drop into the tank when the cap is opened.

What I think she meant was why isn't the whole thing sealed to stop water getting into the well in the first place.

That's not really practical, the cap itself has to have a vent in it to allow air in to replace the fuel that goes out of the tap - if there's going to be hole in it then you may as well accept that and allow water that gets in somewhere to get out.
