well, de gustibus non est disputandum. I really consider it one of the most sexy bikes out there. those shapes... dayum! maybe ifyou only want a bike for fun, it's not the best option, but I also commute and I'm seriously thinking to go travelling through europe...

but anyway, back on topic, is £2500 the max I can get for the bike? what if I take the options off and sell it as original, will the price decrease a lot?

thanks

Yes, sorry for the derail. For commuting and touring the VFR will be a great bike, and there are much worse looking things on the road.

If you were to take all the extras off and sell it as standard then sell the parts you'd almost certainly make more. If you got the damage fixed you'd make more as well.

Don't get me wrong, as a piece of engineering and as a mode of transport it's pretty much the best 2 wheeled vehicle you can buy. For me though a bike is a toy, I am just about still young enough to do 200+ mile days on a Fireblade without too many aches and every time I twist the throttle it outs a huge smile on my face, the VFR just didn't do that.
like they say there are lies dam lies and statistics, if MCN can be believed my 929 weighed 170kgs,my vfr 208kgs,vtec 218kgs and the latest cbr1000 weighs in at 199kgs,so the fireblade apears to have put weight on over the years, but then again mcn couldn't get the time right if they tried!

I may be completely wrong but I heard manufacturers now quote weights for bikes which include all fluids including a full tank of fuel, which probably adds a good 30kg. This is due to some power to weight ratio law they brought in in Japan. Hence why bikes appear to be heaveier than they used to.

I think you'll be lucky to get £2,500 to be honest. If you're looking for another bike, then part-ex might be the best option.

are you sure? similar bikes, but with way more miles (20.000) and way less options (no ohlins, no fairing, no exhaust) go for £2500.

No I'm not sure, it's just a point of view. You'll get more cash for your bike as the weather warms up, but even with the mods, I think £2,500 is top dollar.

Just my opinion guv'nor.

winter prices are atleast £500 down on what you can get in summer on a private sale, and on newer top end bikes this maybe even higher, its a buyers market unless you are paying over the odds from a bike shop

There's a difference to what bikes sell for and what they are advertised for. I always aim to get at least 10% off the advertised price.
