I'm not suggesting it be based around one, the AR is, and always should be, based around a social get together. The idea on the other thread was to have a dedicated group within a trackday so that people who have never ridden around a track before would have the opportunity to do so safe in the knowledge that some twerp on an R1 wouldn't come along and knock them off. The problem with organizing such a thing is getting enough people together to be able to take over an entire group/session from a trackday organizer, hence I suggested it might be possible to combine it with the AR.
That way people who might not be inclined to shell out to travel miles just for a trackday might be tempted if it was linked in with a social event as well. Doing the trackday wouldn't be compulsory, just an option. Anyone else on here old enough to remember the Performance Bike magazine "Frenzy" events at Cadwell Park in the 90's, they were a complete riot!

An optional track day on the monday after the AR would work for me. Though if it's a long way from home we might want to hire a van to carry petrol cans, paddock stands, etc. And also take back any broken bikes

I did the Tour de France Yorkshire Dales route on Wednesday, in the sunshine, and Buttertubs Pass put a huge smile on my face and not just because it is the road straight after the free cheese tasting at the Wensleydale dairy. Trouble is it's probably full of tourists on a Saturday. Same as the moors from York to Whitby which we did on Tuesday, when the roads were pretty quiet, the sheep behaved, there weren't many cyclists either.

Wales was a terrific AR, much of that was down to the organisers, who did a great job of finding a venue that suited everyone. Sadly I believe it's now sold.

Some of AR11 was on the Tour de France route

There ain't that many tourists up there. We managed to get around 70 or more motorcycles round it no problem on a Saturday.

the Dales is NOTHING compared to the north west coast of Scotland. mile upon mile of empty roads with stunning scenery.

Ireland or Wales very definitely appeals to me, never been to Ireland and I still haven't had a chance to take the bike to Wales yet (I'll be going next year regardless of AR, tis shocking seeing as I lived there for 3 years!). As someone mentioned earlier the event of riding to and from the chosen venue is all part of it, as has been repeatedly proved with the GMs, you can easily be organised and sort a day or two either side of the weekend to make the most of it.

I don't disagree, I've driven them, in fact while sat in our holiday cottage near York we were planning our 2015 Scotland trip, however, for me it would mean a 2 day ride just to get there, and while I can get time off for that sort of jaunt for a lot of people AR has to be do-able Friday to Sunday due to work and family commitments. This makes somewhere more middle of the country a bit more practical for a one day two night get together.

We are planning another TOGMIE so certainly no bids for an Essex AR.

i liked the venue Dizzy done but would like to see a more 'basic' event.

AR14 was a great venue but the numbers were poor.

i really do like the idea of Wales, but who if anyone will take the challenge is the question.

There is a campsite further towards Ingleton that is log cabin based. Not unlike the ones at the GM. However, I've not investigated them, so no idea of cost etc. Think it's nearer a pub being in the village too.
