Default Left it too late?!

How long after the event can you take someone to the small claims court?
I got rear-ended by a bus, got witnesses etc. & initially the bus company were very helpful & suggested that I get quotes etc. & let them know, then all went very quiet for ages, I kept chasing them for about 6 months and eventually sent them a copy of the claim paperwork I'd file if they didn't pay up etc.
They then told me I needed to direct all correspondence to their solicitor.
Then I moved house, changed job etc. etc. & basically forgot about it.
I'd replaced everything through eBay long before.

So, the accident was Feb '03 and the business with the paperwork etc. was roughly May '04.

Anyone know whether I can still pursue it?
A bus driver pulling out without looking reminded me of this earlier today.

I don't think so mate. I think you can still go through with it up to 3 years.

Grinch or Jabba may be able to shed light on it for you?

Over to you lads.

I'll ask Mrs Jabba tonight when I get home (she works for the Wales and Chester County Court Circuit).

Cheers folks.
It really should be a no-brainer, sitting stationary at lights & he hits me from behind. They should pay the bill.

If you can confirm that JAbba I'd appreciate it.

Well, I'm not sure how long before you can leave it before claiming but I know that mines still going though and the 'event' happened in April 2003.
And I'm on to my second solicitor.
But I was under the impression that its 3 years, though if its exceptional circumstances then I'm sure its extended.

I've got one of those screen wipes at a show here for a specialist motorcycle solicitor that I'm sure would help.

There are strict time limits. Personal injury claims - you must bring them within 3 years of the accident. Non personal injury - 6 years from the date of the accident. By 'bring' I mean issue your proceedings in the court. Problem is, the longer you leave it the hazier peoples' recollection of what happened.

Very true, I've got nice written statements though.
I'd better just get my finger out & get on with it.
The original quotes were ~ £1200!
