Default SV buying advice?

Been lurking on here for a short while, so hello

Going to look at an 04, SV650 done 15k miles tomorrow. It's one of those on my list along with another couple of bikes. Been away from bikes for a while. It has a small fairing so does that make it an "S"

Apart from the usual stuff on bikes, is there anything in particular to look out for on this model year?

Yes, its an S model

Apart from the usual stuff there's nothing about the SV that should worry you. Just so long as its been serviced regularly & sounds sweet, no knocking noises etc.

15k is the first service for the valve shims, make sure that's been done, as its probably that most expensive service on any SV, if it hasn't, get it knocked off the price.

Bikini fairing makes it an S, 15,000 miles is valve clearance time so make sure it's been done or the price reflects the cost of needing to do it.

Thanks for the heads up.

Bike wasn't for me as it was repainted orange. It was quite nice condition all round and worth the asking price.
Back to trolling the local papers again for a bargain until something turns up .....

Repainted, probably advisable to leave that one

That's what I thought even for £1250

Yeah. I think that the closer to stock the better. Less surprises.

Great SV's show here in this org frequently. Patience

If it's a 2004 model it may have a Silver frame making it a bit different to the black framed models, there aren't that many differences, mainly the rear subframe is different but silver framed models will be worth a bit less than black framed ones.

I didn't even notice what colour the frame was! They've pulled the plug on the advert now so maybe it sold or they've decided to keep it.

I'm not in any real rush to get one with the summer premiums. I'm thinking with my head for a change
