Default Cheap Chin-Mount action camera blog

I thought I'd chronicle the little work I did getting the cheap Orskey Action camera to fit on the front of my Motorcycle helmet.

Hope it's useful to anyone wanting to Chin-Mount a camera,

Nice image quality from such a cheap camera, and nice and stable.

You can see why GoPro are struggling to sell their over priced cameras, when ones like this for a perfectly good job for a tenth of the price.

I'd used my SJ4000 cam on a little bracket on my fairing. Wind noise is always a problem

Yeh the wind noise is less when I used the Waterproof cover but I found it much easier to use without it.Also since making those videos I've found some more small holes on the bottom of the case that I think are letting in the Wind noise at speed as well.I've put a bit of tape over them and will try it out tomorrow as it looks like a nice day for a ride

Also whilst googling around I know some people have hacked the Mic wires and fitted a 3.5mm socket so an external mic can be used.I have one of those small,"Lavalier " mics

around somewhere so might do that some time in the future.

Then I could rig it to the rear of the bike or somewhere to catch better engine sounds

If you're going to use one of those, you'll need something like this to dampen the wind noise

It's a Merkin Tribble

Thanks for that Maviczap but I've done a lot of home recording over the years as one of my other skills is a Guitarist/Song writer so have used,"Pop/Wind socks" a lot

Oh well. The bit of extra tape didn't make a difference. No biggy as I drop the volume in Handbrake. You can switch the Volume off but then the videos just seem lacking.

Here's another with that extra bit of tape,
