Default R6 charging problems.

2002 R6

Producing 11.45V at ~5k lights on or off makes no Difference

What ya recon?

Sounds like what mine did...

Reg/Rec could be the culprit, but if your battery is showing 11V it's weakening - should be 12.6-12.8V for a standard "12V" battery with no load, a faulty reg/rec could be the cause of the weakening battery

Have you had any starting problems recently?

ohhh yes plenty of times it will start about twice. you need to bump it after. Also if you run it with the lights youl be lucky for two starts.

I think it is Reg/Rec or Generator but im not sure which one...

Its a right pita, im stuck rideing a cbr 125 to work

Also replaced the battery recently (6 months ago)

Do you have a multimeter?

If so then see what the resistance is between ground and the (three?) connectors from the generator - they should all be infinite


You can test the generator output but it's a bit involved, perhaps find someone with a working reg/rec they could lend you?

Nope dont know anyone with the same bike. I will test the Generator tonight.

Thanks. Reg/Recs are only ~£20 on ebay so im gona pick one up and give it a go
