Curvy battery tray mod
I fitted a ZX10R rear shock to my dads bike recently, and because he's a bit of a perfectionist I didn't want to just shove some foam under the battery and wedge it against the seat, so made a new battery carrier:
Tray is made from cold rolled steel angle, courtesy of the robbing dogs at B&Q. It's a relatively thin gauge so it's pretty light and easy to weld. Needs sanding down and spraying or powder coating next. Battery strap is a universal item from eBay, they were either way too short or too long, hence the bottom mounting being under the battery to use up some length. Tray is bolted onto tank bracket with a couple of captive bolts welded onto the tray. Front of tray is supported by the tank bracket, the rear is bolted down through the back of the original battery tray. Small alloy bracket to mount the fuses/relay onto. Hopefully a fairly OEM look, the battery is nicely secure and the seat fits without touching anything. |

I see someone else is making use of those b&q brackets. I used 3 on my diy tail tidy lol.

Re: Curvy battery tray mod
Thank chaps. I agonised over chopping my old mans bike up for ages, but the original shock was very tired with 30k on it, and as I fitted cartridge emulators to the forks I wanted something decent at the back.
