Hey All!

Who has done the GSXR Mirror upgrade?

What do you do about the holes left by the original indicators after you've installed these?

Yeah I've done the conversion, mine arnt plastic like the genuine suzuki ones though. The stems on mine are metal so had to be dremmelled down to fit into the K4 brackets.

Pictures of mine below:

I replaced the existing indys with side repeaters which are designed as flush mounted indys available for about £10 on ebay.

Shopping list:
Gsxr indy mirrors,
GSxr K4 mirror mounts (again got some cheap hong kong mirrors and re-ebayed them minus the mounting brackets)
Micro-bullet connectors,
Flush mount Side repeaters.

Making the mirrors fit the brackets took about 10min per mirror.
Wiring another 10,
fiddling around getting the connectors all connected and cable tied neatly away took about a week lol

anyone know whats needed for a curvy so that they can still be folded. I'm currently looking at ways of using an existing curvy mirror and modifying it

rob if thats possible then I'd go with that tbh.

The pointy mod means you cant fold the mirrors anymore, and atm there is no tested method on the curvy IIRC.

You can get painted blanks to fill the hole, or fit flush indi's like Owenski

Can't you just leave the side indicators where they are? I got some nice Oxford Nano's which I'd like to keep.

Why can't you fold the mirrors in? Aslong as they are not super tight you can move the mirrors in and out, no?

the method for fitting them to the pointy involves hacking into some of the gsxr indy mirrors removing thier base and replacing it with the K4 mirror mounts as shown in my pic above. By doing this you leave only two options, tight enough that they dont move, or so loose they're floppy.
I've also found that which ever method you choose, they still end up floppy and need a little tightening about every 1000miles (especially if you hang your lid off the mirror when fueling).
There is also the consideration of the wire snagging, the wire comes from inside the stem on the mirrors it then needs to pass through the mirror mount (which its not designed for and so its momentarilly exposed) then through the fairing (which does need drilling).

Regardless, if you need to fold the mirrors in for parking/getting through a gate etc then this mod ISNT for you. Instead try some of the other aftermarket ones out there.

There is another alternative, but its pretty ugly. Get someone to fabricate a couple of plastic blocks to hold the GSX-R mirrors at the right angle. I'd post a photo of mine, but it's on loan to one of my mates at the moment.
