Change the rear sprocket. Putting a smaller front sprocket will cause increased chain wear.

Yup, a 46/7 tooth rear sprocket is all you need, that and an R6 throttle tube will see a marked difference giving snappier and ear-to-ear grin-making acceleration. Not outrageous just useful and noticable.

However you may well need to fit a 110 link chain but then again, if you're replacing the sprocket(s) that would be sensible anyway.

And the fron one's a complete b'stard to get off if it ain't been done before. It has thread locking compound on it and is done up mega-tight. Nearly gave myself a hernia getting mine off.

Another reason for changing the rear to alter gearing.

Some people do go further and like it though... Personal taste thing.

If you drop the gearing a lot, you'll lose top end. If you drop it a little, you won't, or if you will, not enough to worry. The reason being, a stock SV won't redline in top anyway. Or at least, most won't, some say theirs will but I know what it takes to do that and I think they're, eh, confused.
