Default Goodbye Harley hello sv650

ok so I started off building bad assed choppers out of old jap bikes, kz440s , xs60s and cb750s. Moved on to harley choppers, which were slow and needed alot of work. Well I rode my friends gxer 1100 and Im hooked, now Im really getting into the whole streetfighter look, I know absolutely nothing about it except I love the style. Ive been doing alot of looking and I think Ive decided on the sv650 for my first street bike. All I hear are great things about it. What is the top end like on these bikes? Any particular year better than another? thanks for any info guys!

Top end, varies depending on year - but the new ones are showing 145+ on the speedo.
From '03 onwards the SVs are a different shape, debatable as to which is better - only major difference is the newer 'pointy' style is fuel injection, and the older 'curvy' style his carbed.

if I can get it to cruise 80 mph on the interstate Im happy. I hate messing with carbs, are the Fuel injection models pretty hassle free. Im sick of wrenching more than riding. i want a bike thats gonna fire up every time i hit the button as oppssed to trying to kick a freakin 1200cc shovelhead in the blistering southern sun.

Hmm, I disagree, thats a bit optimistic!

Listed top speed is 133mph, no difference between years I thought! They can happily cruise at 80, fine for 90 and 100 ok. Great engine, you'll be grinning a lot!
