Default SV650 Curvy - Luggage Options

Hi,

I have a 2000 SV650S and am looking at luggage options.

It appears that the mounting brackets for a solid box (e.g. Givi box) are now obsolete, and they were expensive when available. Are there any other systems on the market which work (or can be easily adapted) for the bike which aren't particularly expensive?

Similarly, what are the preferred soft pannier options for the bike?

Has anyone had experience with the Kriega US 20 litre tail pack?

Thanks,

I have a 2000 sv650s as well. I use Oxford soft luggage on mine - depending on for how long and how far I am travelling that could be any combination of tankbag, tail pack, and or panniers.

If you go for the soft luggage option, make sure you use some of that soft rubbery matting underneath it to protect your paint work.

I've got a Kriega US 20 tail pack. It holds a surprising amount and is very water proof. I had the majority of my things in it when I went to the Alps. Only had a few light things in a back pack.

I've got an old curvy pillion seat which was modded to fit a topbox base. Had a 50L box which I used for commuting and trips. Just stick the normal seat back on for weekend fun.

Only picture I can find of it fitted to the bike (sans topbox unfortunately)

These days I use a US20 for most day use and an Oxford Aqua for trips away.
The US20 is nearly 10 years old and has never let any water in, is easy to clip on and remove (so security may be an issue depending on where you leave the bike).

Edit: found a post about pillion seat adapter:

#21 gives details of the mod

Hi

I have got a Kreiga US-20 but struggling to find appropriate fixing points on the bike which won't strain the fragile plastics.

Has anyone fitted these bags to a Curvy before?

How did you do it?

Thanks,

To the subframe under the seat?

When I got mine they had the old straps, one front and one back (with the black clips at each end), so you took the pillion seat off and laid them across, put seat back on. Bingo.

The new method uses one "loop" per corner. If there is no subframe handy to loop round IIRC there are Allen bolts that hold the rear fairing on handily placed.
Stick a hole through the strap (used something hot, so you don't get fraying) and bolt it on. The little loops should slightly protrude so you can get the clips on.

I'll see if I can find a photo of mine - I have them under a curvy seat, but the front ones attached to the opposite sides so that it doesn't curve around the plastics (they were plenty long enough). I attached the rear straps to the hoop the seat locates through, which makes it a little harder to get the seat in, but it works.

Hi,

I eventually managed to figure out a system which seems to work.

Double up one pair of straps, having threaded them beneath and then out the holes on the latch plate bracket. I removed the pillion handle and looped the rear straps around the pillion base, and have refitted.

If I remember I will post a photograph.

Thanks for your help guys.

Hi,

Below are some photographs of how I have fitted the securing straps. I hope this may be of use to people in the future.

Thanks,
