Triumph Daytona 675 owners -a question.
To all you 675 Daytona owners, how do you find the engine braking?
Going to be in the market for my next bike in a few months time, and before trying a few out I thought I'd ask the odd random question. So is the 675's engine braking a lot less or more than the SV? And Luke Millar, how does it compare to an IL4 (R6)? Just curious, as thinking about 600SS, 675, 749 Ducati, 750 GSXR and the RSV (although that may be a bit too much for me...). Just trying to whittle down dreams. |

It isn't a 675 but my dads 955 engine breaking is almost none existent and that's a bigger engine.

I'd say not as much as the SV, but still there and useable.
Please take this as a hefty pinch of salt as I only had a quick blat nearly a year ago. That's quite a shame about the 955, I quite like the speed triples...

Well I guess after 600 miles on mine in 2 weeks I'm qualified to answer this. The engine braking is considerably less than what I'd been used to on the SV, it is there but just massively less effective. If I had to put a quantitative (big word for a Sunday night!) figure on it I'd say the 675 has between 30 and 40% of the engine braking of the SV. That's just my humble opinion after 4 years of SV and 2 weeks of 675, Ed/Paws/LukeMillar/lylej etc may have different opinions.
The fact remains that although the engine braking is reducing the bike can still stop considerably quicker than the SV due to the much better brakes all around. As an example, I locked the back wheel the other day when I was coming in to a roundabout a bit hot, I didn't think I'd touched the brake pedal any harder than I'd have touched it on the SV. That gives an indication of how good the brakes are. |

One thing that stuck from my very limited experience on one was the absolutely excellent feel and power of the brakes. Couldn't fault them really. They kick the SRAD 600 brakes I have on the SV in the nuts!

god yes, the brakes are hot! i remember when i first picked mine up-grabbed front brake as i was used to on sv and v nearly did a full on stoppie!
