Well not today, but last week fitted some new rear marker lights to the bike. The cheap Chinese ones failed (again) and they're so fiddly to install due to the cheapest smallest wire i was fed up of replacing them every 6 months.
I got some new tail markers which are designed as side/back markers for a trailer. The positives is they're e-marked so actually road legal, and should also last a while on the bike too (i'm hoping).

Today was spent removing the standard front brake pipes from my 99 curvy 'S' and replacing them with a braided full length race set up (in between rain showers!). I didn't think my brakes were bad In any way, they've always performed well with no issues tbh but braided kit is definitely the way to go.
So ... drained system/lines, removed banjos etc and found the fluid holes (in and out) were gunged up with some kind of sticky wax type stuff! The fluid can't of been doing it's thing very well I thought as the banjos were very much restricted. Anyway, what was a problem is the double brake lever banjo that came with the kit was a courser thread so didn't fit the lever!! So I removed the longer banjo from the original splitter and .. hey presto.. it fits the lever perfectly. The caliper banjos in the kit fitted perfectly. I had no idea the lever threads was different from the caliper threads, is this common to the 99 svs? Or did the braided line kit have the wrong banjo in it perhaps! Not really a problem as all is now installed and ready to be blead. Lookin forward now to how the new lines and fresh fluid will feel.
Update... I googled the thread issue and it seems the master cylinder is a finer pitch due to direct pressure application! Ie ... 10x1.25 as opposed to 10x1.0 pitch. It's all Greek to me.
BTW... can someone tell me the correct torque settings for the master cylinder banjo bolt and the caliper banjo bolt?
Am I wrong to assume they would be different bearing in mind the master banjo threads into an alloy housing and the caliper banjo is going into a steel thread.
Cheers.I'll

Found my workbench again (under the months of chaos that has been piling up!)

On to the next job on the list, fork oil, seals and new springs on the VFR.

The hardest seals to remove that I've ever done. Never serviced since being built in 2008 I bet.

The Gen 2 manual simply states "brake hose union bolt" torque for the calipers is 23nm / 16.5lb-ft. No figure is given for the master cylinder banjo bolt, but as it's the same diameter head and body you should probably use the same torque setting. The finer thread simply means it won't slacken off as quickly if the bolt does start to loosen.

Would the gen1 torque value be the same as gen2? Cheers.

Just had a set of road 5's delivered and a new chain and sprocket. Got the tyres for 217 inc postage which isn't bad. Will get the garage to fit them, i've never changed tyres or chains and ive got a comfort kit to fit. Can't face doing both
