Default Good Suffolk Roads

Can anyone recommend any good routes in the East of Suffolk? I'm in the Ipswich area and getting my Pointy soon and want to get some miles under the wheels.

Hello and welcome

The roads between Beccles and Bungay to Southwold are nice...not great if you're coming from Ipswich way but maybe they'll be just as good or better coming from that direction.....I am sure they'll be better advice coming your way

Also get yourself on this map if you haven't already: http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/tiltsv

Go through Woodbridge heading towards Sutton Hoo then veer of onto Rendlesham forest. Have fun, then come and tell me how many times you went back to do it again....While your there stop off for Cake and Tea at Snape Maltings, or, carry on towards Leiston then follow signs towards, Sizewell there is a cafe in the car park before the beach, Bacon sarnie and tea maybe?.

Lots of great roads....enjoy

I know the road you mean, it can lead to Orford as well. I have taken the first exit off the roundabout with the pillbox and headed towards Rendlesham, to Snape and to Saxmundham but never as far as Sizewell. All going well I should get my Pointy on Saturday. Does anyone here go to Great Bently? Added to the map, pretty cool!

Here you go, Tour de Suffolk, no A14, A140 or A12

Nice, will have to give that a go. I do enjoy the stretch between the A14 and Ixworth, will be even more fun on two wheels!

Suffolk has the best roads around here I think - I always venture south when looking for some fun roads to ride

Oh and welcome

Not seen that before, like the look of it.

My personal favourite has to be the A1120 from Stow to the A12. B1113 as well (even if it did catch me out a couple of years ago... ) Both part of the circuit above.

Gonna have to get out in the garage now and put the old girl back together and do this route!!

Ah,handy thread. My parents moved to beck row a few years back, from Essex.Me and the wife have never taken our bikes with us when we go visiting but I am considering it in may as the wife keeps asking if there are any good roads in the area.
Thing is we would also need good routes there and back with stops overnight as we live in scotland.
