Default Oxford Paddock Stands - Any Good?

Hi.

I need to get some paddock stands. I have seen a link on Ebay for £69 for front and rear plus £9 delivery which seems a bargain. I have seen these up close and they look pretty sturdy compared to other makes.

Will I be making a mistake if I buy these? I can't afford Abba prices and still have to buy a seperate front.

Thanks
Tim.

I got rear one the other day and the cups that come with oxford didnt work with my SV, normally the cups are a rubber material these ones seem to be platic material so the swing arm just slides right off it, nearl resulted in one dropped bike but thankfully caught it in time!

Abba is only about £25 more than that and so much better.
Try Ebay for used stands.Surely no one pays that sort of money for basic stands?I paid £10 for a used Micron, and about £40 for a used Abba.

Yeah but with the Abba you still have to buy a front stand, Abba's got a bad review. Every time I see an Abba main stand on Ebay it goes for nearly new money and all seem to be collect only.

With an Abba a block of wood under the engine raises the front.I use a jack to lift the front, but if you have a helper to lean on the rear seat the bike will pivot on the stand so you can stick something under the sump to hold it up.
You have to persevere to get a bargain Abba on Ebay, and most are collection only as it costs so much to post em.I paid £40 for mine but I had to collect it from 50 miles away.I got the Micron paddock stand for £10 and I collected that too,but it was only 5 miles from my parents gaff so I killed two birds as it were.I think a new Abba is £87 but their boss was offering a deal to users of this site.Don't know if it's still valid.

Or, go to Machine Mart and get their cheapest bottle jack, costs under a tenner if memory serves. Or any car jack would do the job in fact.

You might also try NWS or Superpro stands, much the same as abba, but universal fit.

Cheers Mark.

If you don't fancy used stuff from eBay you can get a pair of Microns from https://www.busters-accessories.co.uk for £50 including delivery. I got a pair last autumn (from advice I found on this very site if I recall correctly) and they've been fine for the minor amount of home servicing I do.
