You certainly hit a splodge of 'something' on the road...diesel or just water maybe.

Though the road is a little wet, the slip seemed more like the result of my front wheel hitting a stone than of damp or oily road. The stone is roughly the size of an egg. It is a bad thing to hit a stone one on a curve in the road.
