Default Recommend me a Lake District campsite...

Looking to go camping this weekend with the missus. Looking at camping for a couple of nights, been looking at Coniston etc.

Anyone recommend anywhere?

ambleside backpackers - stick yer tent up in the common room and change the screen saver on the communal computer to say rude things..... but do not touch the hippo (ask the badger)

I'll keep an eye on this as I've already decided the next outing in the camper will be the lakes

I spotted a lakeside one at ullswater lake, looked amazing setting, we went on a phut phut boat and seen it, haven't stayed there but if you are searching and come across it, I would consider it purely for location if nothing else.

I'm watching this with interest cos I want me and wifey to do a camping weekend in the lakes somewhere.

If you fancy a campsite with a few more "Mod Cons", can also try the Camping & Caravan Club Site in Keswick......you wake up on the banks of lake Derwent. Is within 2mins walk of Supermarket, pubs, shops etc.

Only downside, couple quid more than some.

Hillcroft at Ullswater, stayed there a few times. Nice and quiet and the little village down the road has a few nice pubs for grub and booze.
