Been looking at Cars
After some fool drove into the back of my Golf, 95% certain it s write off
If so I'll need to get another car, Now me being sensible I am thinking I should spend £500 and get a little diesel 3 door run about. I dont use the car much so I dont do alot of miles. Milleage on the car isnt really a problem to me, My brother is a mechanic so I can get an expert opinion on them The idea of going from a 20 16v MKIII GTI to something like a 106 or something in that range is rapidly loosing its appeal However a search of Autotrader reveals that for another £500 ( £1000 ) total would give me a few more options specifically these Option 1 - From the photos this car looks very tidy, however I suspect its had a respray, Not sure if this car came originally in Dragon Green ? I thought this was a later colour. 1992 VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO GT II 3dr Coupe, 95,000 miles, 1.8 8v, Dragon Green. 15" TSW Alloy wheels, SPAX suspension, Webber Carburetor. Tax and MOT till April. Immaculate condition. £995 Option 2, doesnt look as tidy and I reckon for this money the milleage would be high 1996 HONDA ACCORD 2.2 ES COUPE MANUAL VERY HIGH SPEC'D CAR INCLUDING LEATHER TAKEN IN P/X PRICED TO CLEAR, ABS, Air conditioning, Alloy wheels, Central locking, Driver airbag, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Leather seats, Power assisted steering. £999 Option 3 - Looks really tidy from the photos 1990 AUDI 2.0E COUPE, H reg. 147000 miles, Ice Blue Metallic. 16 alloy wheels. Tax and tested. Clean inside and out.. £1,000. ono I've always had a soft spot for the Scirroco and the Audi, I've heard befoere that parts for the Scirrocco can be difficult to get hold of though I reckon I dont wanna spend more than a grand tops as I want to replace the SV with something else to Thoughts opinions or Ridicule welcome

I'd probably be tempted by the scirocco. Good cars; if a little thirsty. 95k on a 14 year old car is decent mileage. If the bodywork is ok it should be a goer.
But, hey. Its your money.

Get the Honda, at least you know it'll always start, and not breakdown. With the VDub it is a sporty car and these kind of cars generally get screwed, no-one buys a car that looks like that for carrying the shopping do they.
Honda all the way

If you are not doing the miles then I think you are right to steer clear of diesels. Whilst (in theory) there is less to go wrong with a diesel, when they do go wrong it can be expensive to fix.
3 potentially good cars you have chosen. Having looked at the ads, the Audi definatley gets my vote - looks v.nice. Engines tend to be bomb proof as well so long as they have been serviced. Would recommend a cambelt change for piece of mind if not done recently,

The Scirocco will kill your back, not comfortable over a longer distance. Audi or Honda for me.
