Default Barclays - to complain or not?

Last night got a call about 8pm from the Barclays Fraud Centre (India), after I verified they were who they said they were.

They informed me "they had picked up some strange activity on my account and could I confirm the last few transactions?"

I did and confirmed that the last transaction was my service on the bike and the 4 vodaphone ones for £50 each, weren't mine.

They said that 2 had been declined and that if the other 2 appeared to contact customer services and tell them and the money would go back in. They also told me to cut the card up and they would order me a new on, which would be with me in 5-7 days.

All in all, apart from a couple of tricky language situations a very positive experience.

This morning I called customer services as told to report the issues in my account, again India.

They said not to worry they'd sort it, so I thought I would order a new pin for my joint card, just to tide me over until my card turns up. I am told 5-7 days, so it's not going to help much, but it is my fault for not remembering it.

In parting the woman tells me she is "going to send me a backup card free of charge just in case".

"Ok" I said "what is this card for then?"

"Sir it is a Platinum card, you can use in the meantime!"

"Isn't that a credit card?"

"Erm well er yes but you don't have to use it and it is free!"

"No thank-you I don't want a credit card."

"It is free sir......."

"Thank-you very much but I really do NOT want one."

End of conversation, but is that out of order or what?

Now should I complain or just get a life?

Just ignore it. Every time I go in to Natwest they offer me a credit card too. My sister was told she couldn't even open a student account without one! It's no wonder we're in the mess we're in

I'd see what happens. If they send you one, and you haven't signed a credit agreement for it, the possibilities are endless.

Its starting to get on my wick at the moment, loads of shops are now offering it as part of the speach you get at the tills!!! M&S at the weekend, "Would you like a credit card" to every customer.....just think that they should stop touting them so freely and learn from the isues we now have worldwide.

Mysterious Customers though they have to, like at Sainsbury's with bag re-use, (different matter I know). At the end of the day its a motivational bonus for the employees, but annoying as hell for customers.

Id Ignore it. Yes its annoying but what have you got to gain from complaining? If they send you a free card, just chop it up and bin it. Simple.
