Only put 400 miles on my new 650s k8, when I noticed a slow puncture on the front. on closer inspection, I've discovered a small nail!
How much is a new tyre going to cost me? How frustrating!!! |

Where's the puncture? If it is in the central band then can be repaired. Phone around though, someplaces won't do it some will. I had a repaired tyre on for 4000 miles.

As i seem to be saying to most Newbs
Put a rough location in your profile, and not only will I tell you that you should be ok, be able to get it repaired and it ont realistically drop the lifespan of the tyre, I may also be able to advise on where to go/who to call to get that done.

being a new bike you should be covered by AA, they did a pretty good job of fixing mine a couple of thousand miles ago, the tyres are now due for replacement but the fixing is still there, but it was in one of the treads so not so bad I guess.

You do realise the AA fixings are only temporary don't you? I would recommend as soon as the AA do a repair, get yourself to a proper tyre place and they will put a permanent repair in. The difference is that a proper repair is molded to the inside of the tyre.

Yeah he mentioned that it was only a temp one but I hadn't had an issue with it and it was only a slow one initially so figuring if it did go then it wouldn't be a sudden loss of pressure I'd be no worse off than when I started. I always had the intention of going and getting it sorted but that was a while ago now heh, I'm not proposing and didn't mean to sound like that should be the general course of advice, just my laziness and lack of cash at the time meant the issue got forgotten pretty much but it lasted well.

For the love of God, if you are going to replace a tyre that is only 400 miles old just because of a nail, at least change to a decent tyre (as found in the tyre section).
And now that you've done as you're told ![]() Last edited by Stu; 29-05-08 at 11:28 AM. |

The tyres that come on the bike are just fine. When they're worn out replace them with something else but for now look for a place that will professionally repair this. A permanent repair involves taking the tyre off and fitting a patch from the inside. If the repair is fitted with the tyre still on the wheel it is only meant to be temporary and won't be rated to the top speed of the motorbike.
Tyre slime / Ultraseal is again, meant as a get you home fix, and tyre shops hate it because of the awful mess it makes when the tyre come off.
