Battery wiring for multiple connectivity.
Hi all, can't find any previous threads on this subject so here goes ... I have a 99 curvy and want to connect a ...battery charger fly lead + DRL lead + alarm lead + usb lead. So that's 4 leads and from what I can see... the battery posts/connections aren't going to take all these leads for supplying the power I need for the accessories. Does anyone know if this has been done before? Or do I find a small automotive 4 feed fuse box? Looking to use as least amount of space possible for obvious reasons.
Anyone have any idea or advice? Cheers in advance. |

Re: Battery wiring for multiple connectivity.
I think he has retired now, but Bibio made a pretty kickass dealio and sold it on here.
Should be some good info if nothing else http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=187590 (can't believe that was 8 years ago) |

Re: Battery wiring for multiple connectivity.
Cheers for that, was kinda hoping for a wiring diagram of some sort tbh, good info in there though. Thinking about it in more depth now ... would a wired in 4 way accessory fuse box do the same job!? Would be easier to have just the two cables ( live / earth) connected from the battery to the fuse box and then connect to the 4 accessories? Does that sound about right?

Innovv sell something similar to Biblio's here:
https://www.innovv.com/innovv-power-hub1-cjxt You wouldn't want to put a charger through it, though. (Or the alarm as it switches power off with the ignition). |

Re: Battery wiring for multiple connectivity.
Be cautious. For example, don't have things like USB ports connected directly to the battery, they often have quite substantial quiescent current draw even when nothing is plugged in
A friend had his battery go flat on the bike for no apparent reason, until we discovered that he'd left the USB adapter plugged in. I measured the draw at around 25mA, which was enough to effectively flatten the battery in a week or so. Whatever arrangement you end up with, check there is no significant quiescent current draw when everything is switched off, anything over single figures mA can cause issues, ideally you want less than 5mA tops.

Re: Battery wiring for multiple connectivity.
Search on Ebay for "Relay & 3 Fuse Base"
Use a standard relay (not a flasher) to connect 12V power to the fuses when the ignition is on. Crimp a couple of additional wires into the 12V supply for connection to your charger socket (not fused). |

Re: Battery wiring for multiple connectivity.
I use these. They work well, fair price and are a small size too. They also run from a live wire, so everything powers down when the ignition is off.
