GSXR Pointy Front End Swap
Its finally happening!
So I sourced a set of forks and yokes from a 2001 GSXR 750 for £130 (+postage). And then all of a sudden I couldn't resist buying more! Picked up some SV1000 Calipers (£70) New Carbon Effect Steel Braided Lines (£60) A k3 GSXR 600 front Wheel (£110) TL1000s Clip ons (£50) Now all I need is some brake discs, a mudguard and a speedo solution! Going to paint a lot of things like the brake disc centres, yokes, both wheels, brake calipers and fork bottoms to make everything neat and tidy and matching. Not going to be a quick job but I'll try keep this threat updated. How do I go about getting my hands on the magnet and sensor for the speedo? Also I'm not a fan of the k1-k3 Front mudguard, anyone know if I can mound a k4-k5 one as it suits the pointy better IMO! |

Re: GSXR Pointy Front End Swap
Hall effect sensor is what you need, youll just need to fabricate a bracket to mount it near the magnet.
Ebay is a good source for magnets

Re: GSXR Pointy Front End Swap
Cheers maviczap, found a load of magnets (specifically ones with holes in them that I might be able to put a bolt though) as for the sensor, do you mean this type of thing?

Re: GSXR Pointy Front End Swap
First sensor is better, as you can adjust the distance between the magnet head and disc magnets to ensure it picks them up as they rotate. Too far away you won't get any speed registered.
It will depend on the strength of the magnets too, the stronger the better. Then the sensor doesn't have to be as close to pick up the magnets to register the speed
