Default Rise and shine

Have just bought a 2000 W plate 650S with clip ons and want to add bar risers: preferably Genmar as my man has those on his Triumph and they are good. Advice anyone??

Aye change your font

Welcome to the forum. Nice choice of bike same as mine (same age too) no less. I would ride it for a few weeks before deciding.

I'm 6'3" and when I first got it my first impression was i need risers but 5 months later I still don't have them and don't feel I need them.

Just to prove that I can, after due consideration, take a hint, even one given with such patronising glee, here is Norman Normal font for all those who prefer Normal. I would have thought that anyone with a leaning towards an SV650 would appreciate a hint of colour. Still, I can be wrong.

Now my man is never wrong, so he told me. He also told me that this forum, being composed of owners and riders of what he likes to term Japcrap would most likely yield nothing but wannabe Oscar Wilde's spouting patronising crap and taking lumps out of one another.

This honest request for advice (or at least the quality of response thus far) has done little to establish my faith in this forum or its users, and created a self-satisfied grin on my man's face a mile wide. I appeal to anyone with any genuine information on how I can fit risers (Genmar or otherwise) to my bike to step forward. And colourful would do too.

To Foey, thanks for the welcome. Much appreciated.

Ride safe,

Trampie, 3%ers MCC.

Good comeback

A good alternative is the Sun Risers- these are basically riser blocks that you fit to the clipons, and give you a couple of inches of extra bar height. Of course, they're still clipons and so fairly far forwards, and angled, but those who've used them tend to rate them.

The easiest way to fit flat bars to an SV is to get an N model yoke and bars of your choice (RENTHAL!), and simply swap. This can call for new throttle cables and brake lines, and not all bars will fit with the standard fairing of course. If you get apehangers, I'll pay for the brake lines

Or you could drill the yoke and add risers, but that's more work, and of course removes the option of going back to standard.
