Default Discussion about s/hand part prices.

Ok rather than de-rail Lissa's thread, here's where we can discuss the cost of bits I'm going to sell. Some people thought that we could sell the bike for the same money as breaking it. so bear in mind that as a pretty standard SV, with 27k, a running problem (carbs), nearly every panel showing a mark, the need to source another exhaust (loft has eaten a downpipe), I reckon we'd be doing well to get 1500 quid. But in bits I feel it's worth 2500. I realise that not all bits will sell. Who actually wants a frame? And my prices may be optimistic, but hey ho.

Full list below. Please note this does not include all the trick bits, TI Akra exhaust, machined top yoke, new fuel tank and the 3 fairing panels (all in Grand candy Blue of course, new Braking wave rear disc, new reg rec, two racks, Ohlins rear, seats, tank cover and bag, chrome side panels, and rear sets.

Pete I would say the engine is probably optimistic. I have seen lesser miles (pointy engines too) going for less. You might be able to get a bit more for pegs and levers as theyre pretty expensive to buy from somewhere like Robinsons foundry.

I totted my SV up before selling it, and worked out if I sold it in bits I would get about £2k for it, but the tank and forks were damaged.

I wouldn't say the engine is too optimistic, it's just had JHS cams put in for starters. Not much work and it'd be a corker.
Though the wheels are optimistic- they are purple after all. What condition are the wave discs in? Is it not worth splitting them from the wheels?
I don't think you'll get 75 for the clocks- you see them on eBay for that and they never sell.

What about your loom?

Edit: Roca bp for 75 quid (including the fitting kit) is a bargain, I'd say.

The cams are worth a lot, though.

The wheels are something that people may have seen and would like on their curvy Sean. The bolts alone cost 75 quid. However the discs have been on for a long time. Still servicable as I didn't use the front much. Only changed the pads once. The rear is ok too. Plus the front PR2 has got about 4k in it and the rear maybe 2K.

As for the loom. I thought that would be one of the bit's I'd end up with.

Sorry pete, being a numpty I forgot the appropriate smiley after the puprle wheels comment.

You may end up with the loom, but equally if you don't price it silly it may well go. I've just bought a naked loom off ebay for 25 quid posted, and there were other S looms priced for silly money- some for 60 or 70 quid.
