Re: I thought any frame damage in a crash meant a write off?
when the assessor looked at my sv he said possible frame damage? his actual words was " i'll put that because you never know do you? " he didn't really look at the bike properly?

Re: I thought any frame damage in a crash meant a write off?
I know that in insurance terms, a damaged frame is an automatic financial write off due to cost of stripping down the bike to the frame, replacing it and then rebuilding.

Re: I thought any frame damage in a crash meant a write off?
Not necessarily.
A bike with frame damage could be a Cat C. Cat C is "significant" frame/structural damage. Cat B is "severe" frame/structural damage. And Cat A is, well, severely "severe" frame/structural damage Linky for you: http://www.motorcycle.co.uk/insurance_write_off.htm |

Re: I thought any frame damage in a crash meant a write off?
if you had a motorcycle and you had an accident (comp insurance) any mark on the bike inc frame or not you would want putting right, its not the dink in the frame thats the problem like big ape said its the cost of the frame and the labour replacing it which makes it an instant write off. that blade cloggsy found on ebay would pass an mot as long as it was straight.
