Just the stem I'm worrying about now

Nothing to worry about, in that case. Chances are the bearings are the same.

Use the all balls site as I recommended. No amount of questions on here will ever answer your question about the stem, as it's a pretty unusual combo.

http://www.allballsracing.com/index.php/forkconversion

Street > Year (this'll be the stem year) > make (again, stem) > model (and...you guessed it, stem)

Then scroll down until you see the bearings for the SV650 (99-2002 or whatever the curvy ran for) and that's your ticket to slotting it all into place.

If the bearings aren't available. Either press the SV stem into place (then you can run stock bearings) or buy a set of lower and upper triples on Ebay and sell yours.

Again, no idea. It's all a bit trial and error. If they're not OK, you have two options:

Drill them and put a bolt in, wind it in until you're happy then put spacers in the gap
Use wheel balancing weights, glue to triple or frame...makes no difference

If I were you, I'd just be getting all this bolted up and tackling issues as they arise. It'll likely never be super perfect from the get go, conversions always take some tweaking to get right.

unless the bike is your daily workhorse then i would just try the bandit stem first. odds are that its the same as the SV. i do know that the bearings are the same.

If the bearings are the same, it'll bolt right in. You can eyeball the bandit and see the headstock is no shorter then the SV's by any significant amount.

And you're just gonna have to accept this won't be a days work, people may try to convince you otherwise, but unless you have a perfectly laid out plan and all the tools to hand, you're looking more at a full weekend if not three days, just to get it all nipped up. Then there's the ironing out phase to remove gremlins like bearing adjustments etc.

front end swaps on SV's has been done to death and every single permutation you can think of people have done.

the SV and the GSXR/TL have different top bearings and to fit GSXR/TL yokes you need a special top bearing for the SV... no iffs no buts.

there is only two ways to do it. get the special top bearing or press the curvy SV stem in.

you need to do more googlefoo and read up before you go buying parts.
