How cool is this?
http://gizmodo.com/hondas-new-experi...y-i-1790635255
It'd be great to sit at traffic lights with both feet on the pegs - I still try and do this (unsuccessfully) after 45 years of riding. Still, being a pessimist I can imagine walking off, leaving the bike and hearing an almighty crash as the battery went flat. Alternatively, I can imagine going around a corner when it malfunctions, kicks in and decides that the bike should now be upright. (I may be becoming technophobic) So; cool or gimmick? |

Re: How cool is this?
Neat technology.
Using it they could build a completely faired "bike" which would be much more fuel efficient than any current design. It would probably still need a side stand but this could be deployed automatically when you stop. Ideal for commuter journeys where there's only one person and a limited amount of luggage in the vehicle. But pretty useless for the school run..."Children, if you don't sit still the car will fall over again!!" |

You may be technophobic. It doesn't use gyro's, it changes the rake of the front end so shouldn't throw you into the scenery just maybe scare you a little because it would start to handle like a 50's brit bike.

This automation could be a problem for people with more than one bike, you would have to remember pretty quick if you were on the that didn't fall over or the ones that did, my guess is you would put your feet down anyway just to be sure, kinda defeats the object really. Just waiting for BMW to add this to their GS1200 for riders who have legs shorter than 36"

Re: How cool is this?
I really, really like this, not for riding, stopping etc. But for moving the bike around and things like that its brilliant.
Think about someone who has a path, alley way etc just wide enough for a bike, it would be difficult to walk side by side, riding is easier but not always practical. With this you could just walk it through the entry. I wonder how much weight the electric motor adds tho (steering and to make it move) |
