Default Buying a dash cam

and clueless as usual. I thought we might have covered this already but I didn't manage to find it via the search. So...

With all the, erm, tomfoolery that seems to pass for driving these days, I thought a camera for my wife's car might be a good idea. I haven't looked at them as there are grillions and really it's an OMO post, so any words of advice or recommendations would be gratefully received.

I just bought one similar in the Amazon Black Friday deal. Mine is an Amacam version.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Amacam-AM-M8...m+AM-M80&psc=1

Got it for £27.99. Not tested it yet. Got it as people are always cutting up my missus and doing stupid things.

Bought one of above type branded under the E-prance Brand. Just had to get a cigarete lighter socket (Maplin) and fused Tpiece for connecting the supplied cigarrette lighter plug power lead to a switched 12V from the fuse box. Mine overlays GPS coordinated time and date. Large Class 10 micro SD card also needed.
Worked OK for a year now. Well worth while for the peice of mind.

Sorry I meant to come back and say thanks for the links. I don't know how many insurance companies give discounts for them? e.g.
www.adrianflux.co.uk/dash-cam-insurance/
am still looking though not terribly hard, but still nevertheless

Well it seems mine isn't HD. Quality is ok but nothing to shout about.

I'm getting this.

http://uk.transcend-info.com/Products/No-498

It's available for about £80. 1080p HD, excellent night quality, quite small, wifi connected for viewing.

Anyone bothered with getting a rearward facing camera too?

I have the mini 0801 in mine and have been thinking of getting the 0806. More than happy with how mine has been for the last 3 years or so. Only does 1080 30fps and would like 60fps and a bit better night time quality.
