Re: Vintage film cameras
Don't forget about the shutter speed thing with the Kiev. Can't remember which way round it is with this one.

Re: Vintage film cameras
You can adjust if before or after cokking, though engaging the slowest speeds when cokked takes a bit of turning. It's a fiddle to adjust to slower speeds without cokking though as you are turning in the same direction and it starts to cokk and doing both at once is a bad thing. So, best to cokk first for that. Hopefully the pics will come out, it's an experiment. Had to use the RF to measure the distance in order to focus the Ensign, which has no marks between 25ft and infinity - I needed about 40ft. Used f8 for best sharpness but also zone focusing! It really has a shallow DoF, and anything away from the actual focal distance is noticeably less sharp, even within the DoF.

Re: Vintage film cameras
OK, I thought it was like the Zorki where you could damage it if you didn't set it right. Hope the weather held long enough for you to get out shooting. Its dull here now. Surprised you don't have an add-on rangefinder for the cold shoe.

Re: Vintage film cameras
It's dull here too. Spending the afternoon reskinning a Yashica FX3 with one of Milly's covers.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I did the FX3 in black and it looks good - all black now. I had to do seals and mirror foam too. For a change, I used wool instead of foam for the door seals and it seems to have worked OK.
FX-D is next - I 've got black and red snake for that. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
That's what the Contax manual says anyway! Seems to work. I bought an auxiliary RF but the calibration was rubbish, and I couldn't get it to work so had to re-mark it. Not used it much but as I was taking pics with both cameras I had the Kiev anyway.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I didn't really have to change the shutter speed much anyway. I just won a Kodak Due 620 for £2.90 plus postage. Hope the bellows are in better Nick than my other one.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I just watched a Halina 35x Super sell for £77. Its a basic point and shoot camera, I think I would rather buy something more high end with that amount!
