Default Lemmy. RIP.

Well the news is that Lemmy has died at age 70 after a boxing day cancer diagnosis.
End of an era for the Metal world.
Although some of his views were not to everyone's taste he certainly lived life to the full.
So glad I saw him on his last tour, though my ticket for the 26 Jan at the O2 Manchester isn't going to be any good now.
RIP Mr Kilmister.

It was listening to the Iron Fist album that got me started in extreme music, from Motorhead to Slayer and then on to all of the furious Black Metal that I love to this day. I even took my Mum to see Motorhead for her fiftieth birthday and she loved it.

One quote that I loved from Lemmy was about him dying his hair as he aged. "Of course I dye my hair, without it I look like Willy Nelson!"

He had a sharp sense of humour, he was eternally youthful and according to a close friend of mine who spent and evening socialising with him at a party, he was a really charming man.

Rest well dear Lemmy, you influenced so many and you never stopped being true to your values.

A true rock god - Rest in Peace

Told my son about him, who's been learning to play guitar and bass in the last few months - an hour or two later I hear the first few bars of Ace of Spades coming from his room - I like to think Lemmy would be smiling up there

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/mot...onths-to-live/

The sad thing about this for me, is the very day Lemmy passed away, my mother was given the all clear after the removal of a particularly large(non cancerous) tumor in her brain.
In late September, a couple of weeks after our wedding, she had major, and very sudden surgery.
Lemmy was quite a character. One or two friends have shared festival bills with Motorhead, shared beers, photos and memories. A few friends have met him at gigs or as my husband, out in the street. All, have said he was a genuine, and warm chap. Sadly missed
