Default Bad Warranty and service

Here is an email I sent to Suzuki

Could you please let me know the position of Suzuki on this matter.

I purchased My Suzuki SV650 Sport on the 18th Nov 2006 from Suzuki dealer 'John Pease Motorcycles' Braintree Essex.
The bike has been serviced at the correct intervals at the same Suzuki dealer and at the last one I was told the steering bearing needed changing.
It was going to be done at the next opportunity but in the meantime the dealer has closed business.
I have now had the bike serviced at another Suzuki dealers (Grays Motorcycle Centre) and have been told the problem can not be done under warranty.
How is it possible that a bike that is serviced at the correct intervals at an official service centre can have been so badly serviced that the head bearing has worn out in under 2 years?.
Even worse is the thought that the plus2 service pack purchased with the bike was not such a good deal as the services which were pre paid were not actually done and just an exercise in service book stamping.

I look forward to your reply.

They phoned me and told me that..
it was out of warranty.
You might have been doing wheelies for 2 years!.
The service 2plus option was not by Suzuki(even if it was on their main web site)

So am I buying another Suzuki this year as planned - no
Do I think having the bike serviced at recommended intervals is worthwhile - no
Is Suzuki U.K customer care worth anything - no
Am I reporting the matter to Suzuki Japan - yes.

And the other £80 for fitting them.

I see head bearing and part that take constant abuse like that as perishable parts I would say they are right not replacing them under warranty really I'm afraid.

+1 bearings are consumables like fuel, oil, plugs etc . . . .nothing you can do sorry. If they break 10 miles out of the showroom it's your job to fix.

I know you were exagerrating to make a point, but if that happened I think you'd be well within your rights to suggest they weren't fit for purpose.

What's the expected life of head bearings? If the bike has done less than half the time / milage then surely that's not normal wear and tear?

wheelies, knocking blocks of wood at 90mph all affect it.

What you expect? Grease is not fitted as standard.

And, you could have been plonking down hamfisted mingers every day for 2 years, that isn't suzukis problem.

Makes me laugh TBH, you can't have the same attitude towards dealer servicing that you have with cars with bikes. And I wouldn't trust a dealership as far as I could throw it. Nor would I pay one for overpriced and quite possibly shoddy work.

Mmm I'd LOVE to see them try to get that to stick.

If it was say, 6 months or something then I'd say stick to your guns and fight it, sure complain about the servicing and the things but as for the head bearings after 2 years it's "only" £100 (he says only) and it's not worth the stress and hassle
