A really pretty course, but due to the flooding, some of the paths were waist-deep in water last week. Thankfully it had all receded, but left an unimaginable level of mud to get through. Anyway, I survived and finished before the 9-hour cutoff.

I'm going to take a few weeks off now!

Today I ran the Cambridge Half with my wife. It was a nice if slightly conjested run. 15,000 runners.

1 hour 49 mins and 55 secs.
Wow, well done both of you. Impressive distances!

I was supposed to have been running with a group this morning but it got postponed due to the run leader being unwell. I did a 9 mile walk to Quakers and back instead. It was a tad muddy!!

Back story: Knee pain for years but only found the cause and cure last year, packed in triathlon and just rode the bike + the odd swim. Still had the occasional issue. My sister and I had the daft idea of running our local 1/2 marathon in 2021, so it begins..

Good on you and your sister Chris. Take it steady though at the start, don't knacker your knee again!

Definitely, will be steady enough for a while yet..

Turns out, I'm an overpronator and needed orthotics via the NHS.. I now have correction in all of my shoes, from the foot up the next structure that can show symptoms is the knee and ultimately the ITB and hip..

Haven't had a flare up since April which was caused by walking 10mi+ a day in work so I'm quietly hoping it stays that way

It's so good to get a diagnosis - I've had ankle problems for four or five years now, and no one I've seen have been able to pinpoint the problem. I think I know where my weakness is now, but I need to take time off to let it strengthen, which isn't happening this year :-/

Took a trip to A&E and a 7 week wait for a podiatry referral. In the meantime Id bought new insoles off the shelf and within a few days the issue was gone. I could feel my ITB rubbing over the ischial tuberosity (sp) every step, things had greatly escalated from just feet

Just looked at the official Cambridge Half Faceache page and some people are different.
Oh wait it's an old photo from a few years ago.
But still, he's a nutjob.

What a madman!

Made it out with canicross friends this afternoon for a 7.8m run. Good weather until the last couple of miles when it started raining lightly. So good to be out there though.
