Probably something along those lines. It isn't a case of said Parkes living here or on an electoral roll, I've been here for yonks and only one previous owner who built the house, and he wasn't Parkes, but quite possibly something similar. They didn't even try to confirm/find out my name, so probably not anything aimed at me specifically. Gotta watch out for these devious types.
Cheers for the ideas.

What is non-endorsable ? I thought any vehicle over 3 years old had to have an MOT to get it taxed !

Non endorsable means you don't get points on your licence only the possibility of a fine from the police, and if they're all your mates - no fine
Fair point on the tax though I guess he must have MOT'd it eventually. Though this bloke changed cars constantly - he was one of those people that 'swapped' vehicles. Which I still think is mad...unless you know there's something wrong with yours in which case both people are swapping duffers!

Absolutely. It's just useful to be aware of the different scam tactics they use and what the purpose is.

I've only had the "I'm from Microsoft" scam call once but I acted surprised, said "hang on, the PC is upstairs, let me go up there now" and put the phone under a cushion and left it there. Half an hour later I hung up, but I assume he had already gone

I like the fact that the Beeb has resisted the temptation to drop the whole series of Line of Duty on iPlayer, but I don't want to wait another week to find out who Jo's relative is ....
