Sky Broadband.....who got it.....(wireless in particular)
I will be recieving my wireless router from sky this week.
Is it easy to set up, including setting up the security so people cant easily steal my wireless? Is the box small and decent looking? Thank you in advance |

50 of your neighbours already steal YOUR broadband so why worry about a few more. Cheeky buggers then call it contention. I call it selling more than you can supply and a very dubious advertising practice.
I sometimes get about 17 of the 20Mb I am supposed to get from my supplier and then at other times I only get about 4Mb. The whole T'internet is creaking. Built on 80 technology but advertising requires faster and faster speeds against decreasing revenue stream, so bugger all investment

Re: Sky Broadband.....who got it.....(wireless in particular)
I've got Sky Broadband, have had it for over a year and it's sooooo much more realible than my old Plusnet account.
My PC is directly connected to the router, but I use the wireless whatchmacallit when I'm using the cr*ptop. Only needed to use the support helpline once, and they were very prompt and efficient. Do set up a dial-up account with another provider just in case - Sky has no dial-up facility, and you can't use another other router/modem. Due to the distance I am from the exchange, sometimes my internet grinds to a halt, but I just pull the power cord out of the router, shove it back in and am up and running again. I think my connection is supposed to be 1Gb, and although I don't seem to get anywhere near that, it's good enough for me to use for online gaming. HTH Jo |

Oh, and I forgot to say - there is a card in the box with a security number that you use on set-up to secure the wireless connection.

I've got it, 8 of us use it in the house, it's secure and very reliable. I set it up and it's very easy with a dumbass guide to installing it, just follow the simple instructions. Have had few problems with it except for when my laptop craps out.

Well I only have a laptop at home for the time being so will be wireless only.
As long as it is easy to set up securely I'm not bothered looking forward to being able to check even minor things like my hotmail which I cant get onto at work. |
