I was got by a gatzo many weeks ago, and haven't got a letter yet. Have I been let off or am I still getting a fine?

Probably run out of film mate, usually you'll get a letter within a couple of weeks and I believe there is a deadline for them to issue a NIP of either 14 or 28 days, look it up to find out...

The obligation is upon the prosecution to have issued and despatched the letter in order that it arrives with the registered keeper of the vehicle within 14 days of the offence.
The Police do not have to prove that the Notice reached its intended recipient within 14 days, merely that in the normal course of events, it should have arrived.

Well, it's been more than 14 days. Looks like I'm in the clear. Even if they do send it, I have found a draught of a letter saying they cannot prosecute.
