Dymag wheels on Pointy?
Thinking of splashing out on some nice wheels for the beast! I couldn't afford them new, so will be buying second hand.
I have noticed most are a 6"inch wide rear wheel, i have a 52 tooth rear sprocket and reckon the sv650s could cope with the extra rubber in the road? Am i right in what I'm thinking would i see a big benefit in handling. Not many doing it..... I have Red pointy with full fairing some gold dymags would look nice or white.. Anybody selling some or know of someone how is? |

Re: Dymag wheels on Pointy?
Not many do it because the SV doesn't need any more rubber than it has, and handles very nicely with a 160 rear tire. I don't imagine a 180 or 190 rear will make it handle better, more likely worse, and the tires are a lot more expensive.

Does anyone know the actual weight of the stock ally wheels?

Re: Dymag wheels on Pointy?
it would actually turn in slower using a 180/190, however race tyres are easier to get hold of and cheaper esp if you buy scrubs etc.. not really needed on the road. just spray your standard wheels

Re: Dymag wheels on Pointy?
I had this thought myself earlier, with the weight of the tyres being bigger putting me bk to what I would have weighed with the smaller tyres.

Love the look of these:
http://www.dymag.com/up7x.html Any ideas on how to get some of similar style without changing the dimensions of the wheel? Almost like a straight swap..?

Re: Dymag wheels on Pointy?
They do make these to suit our stock size wheel/tyre. Depending what bike they have been on previously you may need to change spacers in the hub.
Even still 400 second hand for a pair if your lucky. most for sale though are to suit bigger tyres like 6"inch back wheel. VERY NICE though I do agree Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk |

Re: Dymag wheels on Pointy?
Dymag did rims for the SV, 3 spoke carbon/magnesium.
They might even do them, but I did notice a change in the product line after they went bankrupt. Last edited by speedyandypandy; 16-03-14 at 01:43 PM. |
