Default Which spring rate for a chunky rider?

Hiya,

After speaking with a certain orger (thanks Phil 24_7), Im looking to upgrade the shock on my K3. Its original, and now done 20k miles and is past its best. Im aware that a number of gsxr shocks fit, including 600, 750 and 1000's of various vintages, however I'm asking the almighty org which one would be best for me (i.e. in terms of spring rate...)

I'm about 16 and a half stone in my birthday suit, so need to add another 6 or 7 pounds i guess for all the clobber.

Which one would be best do you think?

Below is a copy of info from SV Rider, with the shock lengths, and I believe spring rates:

00-03 GSXR750 325mm 400#

01-03 GSXR600 325.5mm 450#

01-02 GSXR1000 329.5mm 430#

03-04 SV650 330mm 430# <== stock 2nd gen...05 should be the same

99-03 GSXR1300(Busa) 330mm 700#

04 GSXR750 332.5mm 408#

04 GSXR600 332.5mm 425#

03-04 GSXR1000 332.5mm 480#

99-02 SV650 337mm 510# <<<====stock 1st gen

04 ZX10R 338mm 540#

03-04 ZX6R(636) 340mm 540# *corrected by e lo...thanks!

96-99 GSXR750 345mm 375#

97-00 GSXR600 375mm 375#

05 GSX-R 1000 332.5mm 450#

Thanks in advance,

Billy.

Leathers, boots and lid are good for a least good for another stone

To be honest a stock curvy shock might see you right??? You will pick on up for next to nothing and get increased ride height

Yes that is what I meant ... as for compatibility, I thought ANY shock in that list fitted either bike*??? (might be wrong there ).

*you select for spring weight and length, they will all fit (after cutting battery tray etc for reservoirs if necessary).

ah...not the way I read it, but then again, I know nowt!

Reading it again, I can't see why it wouldnt fit, but then again, finding a good curvy shock could be difficult...

People are so disillusioned in their own ability that they think the stock curvy shock isn’t good enough for them … so no one wants curvy shocks, I bet there are loads that were ripped off at a low mileage

I've got a standard if you want it no idea on the milage but looks OK, in fact I've got a couple. I can see if my Bro can bung it in with his works stuff when he ships next.

At least you'll have it for compatability then, if not either send it back or bit it I'm not fussed.

Oh Yeah, it'll cost you the pricely sum of nowt.

Thats a very kind over SVste...I would like to take you up on it, but don't want to take a shock away from someone that needs it, cos I may not end up using it...

Would like to give it a try tho...can cuvey shocks be rebuilt?
