Panniers

Hi,

Has anyone got recommendations for the best luggage/panniers for the SV. Not sure whether to go material or if hard panniers are an option. Would prefer not to have topbox!

Matttheloony's got a Givi (I think) side rack for his curvy, looks pretty tidy... Or if soft luggage is more your thing, I've got on fairly well with my Oxford throwovers, but they'd be a pain to use day to day.

Would just want them for nights away.. Got to put the hairdryer somewhere! Just worried about security of material ones.. Ta though, will have a look at Oxford.

If you pack light or are not going for long - why not go for a tailpack instead of panniers?

My Oxford Sports one did me well for a four day run to the Nurburgring and back last July - and that wasn't even extended out to it's full capacity.

The best bit is that you can unzip it from its 'base pad' - leave that secured on the bike and use the rucksack style straps to carry your luggage around with you. They're fairly comfortable and a hell of a lot easier then lugging panniers.

I like my tailpack too... You can fit tons of stuff into panniers, mind, but the big Oxford tailpack's pretty big.

I have got an oxford first tank bag, and panniers, and just about to get a tail pack thanks to a credit card deal that came with Bike magazine!

I have been using the tank bag and its a wee bit on the big side but does the job fine! Just throw stuff init and away you go!

I am going to try out the panniers later in the week me thinks!

Ive got the Oxford panniers and tailpack .
Did 3 days away with just the panniers (not extended) with pillion (hence why i didnt use the tailpack) no problem.
You can get a loan if you want to try before you buy .

Oxford seems the way to go.. tis that the best make? Am planning on a wee West Coast Cruise this weekend so think I'll go for tailpack and see how I go. Cheers for offer Kilted Ginger! but only been an the bike for couple of weeks and wouldn't want to cause any damage.... (Positive thinking eh! ) Any recommendations of where to buy, have got most of my gear from Heine Gericke in Glasgow.

Oxford Sports Panniers at £69.99 at JS Accessories in Hamilton, or they have some Buffalo ones at £50.

I inherited my set from a friend, so its well used, so the offer still stands if you want a loan before you buy.
