Default Too much cooling help

My Brothers MK1 SV radiator fan starts when he puts the ignition on from cold. He says it usually only does this when the weather is cold like it is now. I just need confirmation that the thermostat is the first place to look or do I need to check the radiator switch first. Any help/comments appreciated.
Thanks

Disconnect the plug from the fan switch first, then check that the bike runs properly like that, if it does then the switch must be suspect.

If the fan continues to run when the switch is disconnected then there is likely to be a wiring problem somewhere.

I had a 2000 R1 and if you disconnected the throttle position sensor, each time you blipped the throttle the fan would run , never did sus out why

Default Too Much Cooling:

It could be possible. If you had a short on the wiring that was putting a live feed onto the fan circuit or the wiring to the sensor was shorted together prior to the sensor, this would make the circuit and start the fan

ok, got it....

on a quick read I understood " Disconnect the plug from the fan first, [...]"
Now I have seen that there is a "switch" word in the middle.

Makes sense then...

Well, had a mess today and it's not the fan switch, messed with the thermostat also and that seems OK. That just leaves the electrics my favorite subject (not)
