i suppose if you have never seen them before they sound great and they are but are very expensive. one problem with them is is the copper wire is corroded or tarnished the solder ring wont take so gives you a false security. personally i use a proper solder joint and adhesive lined heat shrink.

Similar to what is used on aircraft to bond the cable braid to the airframe.

Some of the low voltage signal cables use these on the internal braiding for the 0v line. That's going back to the 70's, the first Tornado cockpit I worked on as an apprentice electrician was full of them. We referred to them as solder sleeves, you had to insert a pig tail yourself.

You worked on Tornados? I used to love them when I was a kid. They used to fly over our house in pairs regularly.

Yeah, Avionics & flight systems mainly. Development fleet for most of my time at BAe. Basically getting poorly planes fit (enough) to fly.
Got to work on Harrier, Lighting, Buccaneer, Hawk (100/200), ADV, IDS, GR4, and an afternoon on a Spitfire before moving on to talk about work instead of doing any
