Question SV650S curvy headlight mod

Hi all - newbie question (means you've probably answered it a thousand times, but I am too stupid to find it..).
I have a K3 curvy, fully faired with dual headlight.
On low beam only one side lights - can I modify this (without blowing relays etc) so that both sides come on when on low as well as high?
If it can be done and I will soon (hopefully) be the proud owner of a K8 (tried all the 600/650's but the SV gives the best smiles per rev) - can these be modified also?

K3 was pointy, yours is probably a late sale K2? I thought all the UK ones lit both sides... But I could be wrong.

Red face Re: SV650S curvy headlight mod

Hi, Told you I was stupid.... says K3 on reg doc or is that something else?
Mine definitely only lights one side, to be truthful I haven't had the bulbs out to check as my last bike was the same so I assumed it only worked on the one side. Will check tomorrow, if it doesn't 'p' down as much. Cheers

Looks like a curvy to me mate

No idea what your reg docs on about.

Possibly just a blown bulb, but if one half of the lens is flat and clear, different to the other side then you've got a Euro light.

(UK SV uses H4 bulbs, which have a filament for full and one for low, so you could just have lost one filament)

I would agree - its definitely a curvy
Reg early '03 - just dug out handbook and it is a K2 - not that I should doubt the experts here....
Will delve into the innards and check out the spec.
Just noticed the bike originally came from DK in N.U.L - wern't they big on grey imports once upon a time? Could be a euro spec bike?

Well look at the headlight, if one side is clear with a projector lens behind it then its an import, if they're both normal reflector lenses then its UK

Thanks, will do.
With the K3 onwards, are they similar or do they have a different headlight arrangement?

Your's is pretty much certainly curvy.

I doubt anything is interchangeable from the pointy except the bulbs, both H4 on UK curvy and pointy iirc, as for euro ones I have no idea.

My sv is german and doesn't have projector lights.

This page has the wiring diagram for uk spec headlights. my dad sorted mine for me, didn't take him long.

Cheers all - this is a little weird....
I have now put 2 complete new bulbs in and the right side works on dip and the left side on main????
It looks to be right as only 2 wires go to each connector - H4 connectors can be got at a motorworld/Halfords? Couple of quick scotch locks and job done eh?
