Question clunking chain noise

Hi all ,

Getting a clunking noise which sounds like its coming form chain .

Have checked chain links and is fine ( chain is only 9k old & scotoilered)

Strange thing is when going slow enough to hear clunking noise , when I pull in clutch it goes , if it was the chain thought it would have been a constant noise ?

Will take a look at front sprocket tomorrow for signs of hooking front sprocket , have not cleaned out the front sprocket area for 9k however this would cause this noise ?

Any other ideas on what to check ?

Cheers Steve

checked front / rear sprockets ok
cleaned out front sprocket
checked wheel alignment ok
checked rear wheel bearings ok
re-checked chain there is one link which is tight to move , not completely seized it has limited movement , chain is scotoilered & apart from this link is in good condition.
have cleaned chain again & lubed however still making clonking noise at low speeds ..
Chain only has 9k on ( normally get 20k +) , however chain is a Iris and after having it fitted heard a lot of poor reviews for iris chains .

Trouble is I'm in Kent Tuesday - Friday , therefore will not be able to get chain replaced .... & I'm hoping to go on the NW3 weekend ... ARGHHHHH

Cheers Steve

Hi Pete ( & Lissa) ,

I'll give the bike another run tomorrow & over lube / work problem link , hopefully it will free up ...

The chain is in v good condition apart from this link so fingers crossed it will be fine , chain has been scotoilered from new so don't see why only 1 link has knackered itself , I was a bit miffed when garage fitted a Iris chain as I had never heard of it & it did not come with a mileage guarentee which did not bode well...

Cheers Steve

Sounds like the garage didn't do the joining link properly. Maybe.

Annoys me when I don't scrimp on bits, then a dealer thinks he's doing me a favour saving a fiver using inferior parts.
