I've done about 1000 miles since Easter. Put it another way, it's been serviced about every 18 month's

I don't worry about miles per se but I do shy away from higher mileage bikes (over 20k) unless they are an absolute bargain. Which I'm not sure that one is that cheap. I doubt you'll have issues with it, I'd just get the valve clearances checked and then ride it as you would.

Patience is a virtue though... I waited and waited for the right gsxr 1000 zk4 to come up... and got it with only 6500 miles on the clock for the same price that others with 25k on the clocks were going for.

I just bought a 10 year old vfr with 35k on the clocks.

Perfect condition, kept immaculately, runs beautifully!

Don't let milage distract you, i've seen far worse bikes that are half the age with half the miles!

Mileage on bikes and what is classed as 'high' is such a subjective thing. Cars are easy - 10-12k a year average. Bikes can be and are used so much more differently depending on the owner. Fair weather rider, everyday commuter, etc, etc.

Personally I would have no issue buying a higher mileage bike that had been looked after and serviced regularly over a lower mileage one that had been stuck in a garage for years and hardly seen the light of day.

My first bike was a Ducati Monster 600 that was hardly ever used. Lovely bike, but within a few weeks of me using her regularly the rear wheel bearing needed replacing, one of the fork seals started leaking, the throttle and coke cables started sticking and probably more things I'm forgetting. Just because a bike has lower mileage doesn't necessarily mean it will be trouble free.

Bikes need to be used
