Default SV650 Curvy Clutch and oil leak

Hi all,

Just been doing work on the bike, new clutch cable etc...

However, I started the bike it warmed up, and I noticed oil on the floor, it was warm as well. The bike was on a paddock stand when running. The oil looked like it was coming from on of the clutch cover screw holes. The one directly beneath the clutch holder.
My question is, is that a warped cover, or something else. I have never noticed an oil before and of course warm oil on the floor worries me.

Also, no matter how much I adjust the clutch cable/holder in the main screw locknut the clutch will not disengage - you pull the lever and the push rod moves and it's like your not pulling it. Keep in mind the bike was on a paddock stand.

I'm more concerned about the oil though. Any ideas?

Actually, looking at it, I did pull out the clutch push rod (when off) and I can see a weep of oil around it. Would that be something to do with it. The oil went around to the sump plug under the engine. But the plug isn't leaking since I did the oil change that I'm sure of.

There seems to be a weep from the push rod, and I would of thought that it would run down to the sump plug.

Just bought a new clutch Suzuki SV 650 K2 02 Clutch Release Assembly, as the one I have the balls in the mechanism are coming out.

The next thing is the seal, what do I do to approach that? I think my existing dodgy Clutch realise assembly had caused havoc. What do you guys think?

The warped clutch cover you've heard about is on the right side of the bike. Sounds like your leak is on the left side so it isn't that.

Quite a lot going on here so let's back up a bit. What work have you done that led up to the oil leak? Did you change the oil? How much did you put back in? Did you check the oil level with the bike on the side stand by any chance?

Let's sort out the oil leak first. Then we'll have that clutch adjustment sorted easy

Hi Tam,
Okay I did an oil/filter change around a month ago with no issues or leaks from the bike, I also did plugs.
I recently did a bar conversation and needed to replace my clutch cable, which is where all the issues started.
First of all the clutch cable disgager lock not was loose and I tightened it, followed SIDS guide about 4 times and then noticed the oil leak.

From the picture does it look like it's coming from the pushrod seal? I did pull the push rod out to have a gander when the engine was warm.

But I can't remember if the oil was there before, or after I pulled the pushrod out

Oil level is good as well between the full and empty lines.

I've had some oil come out when I've removed the push rod, not every time though.
As you didn't notice it until afterwards I'd clean the area up and keep an eye on it but you'll probably find it's not actually leaking.

Thanks Tom, I was hoping you would join the thread too.
Thank you all for the help so far, I really want to get this solved.

What I think i'll do it get some talc and cover the whole area - after wiping it down of course.
How long would you say run it for to see if it is leaking? Should I also pull the clutch in and out?
